According to TikTok, there is a right way to wear a turtleneck

You might want to think twice the next time you wear a turtleneck.

One woman on TikTok claims we’re all wearing turtlenecks wrong — and she can help.

Mary Orton, a New York-based fashion and lifestyle blogger, took to the social media app to reveal the right way to wear a turtleneck, and viewers were floored. The viral video has already reached more than 2.8 million views.

“I hate to tell you this, but you’re probably wearing turtlenecks wrong,” she said.

Orton explained that you should wrap the turtleneck from the inside instead of the outside.

She stated that the hack makes for a much cleaner cleavage.

“It also gives you a cleaner canvas if you want to layer necklaces,” she revealed. “Also, a lot of turtlenecks here develop this kind of braided hem, so tucking them in can make them look more expensive.”

She also shared that you can even double up the inner lining to make it look more like a fake collar.

In the comments section of her video, viewers were stunned by the simple advice.

“You saved my life, thank you,” one user wrote.

Another agreed, commenting: “So much more sophisticated and classic. In combination with a blazer, it looks much more aesthetically pleasing to the eye.”

“You just changed my life,” admitted one person.

However, some people couldn’t even imagine ever trying the hack, as they claimed it made them too tricky. In the following video, Orton jokingly responded to some of these ridiculous hate comments she received about the turtleneck recommendation.

Mary Orton said she discovered this hack almost two years ago.

“Most of the reactions to the video have been positive, but there have been negative reactions and I feel like I have to address that,” she said sarcastically as she read comments like, “I don’t even wear turtlenecks.”

“But I’m so tricky, I tried, I couldn’t xD,” wrote one commenter.

She took to her platform a week later to address the hilarious "polemics" on the video.

One user backed it up, complaining: “I’m tickled to be twisted inside 🥺.”

“It’s less comfortable, which always gets me,” another viewer wrote.
