All the senses are ignited when a customer steps into the global fashion paradise that is Beatrice the Divine, Boulder’s newest luxury clothing store. The walls are dressed in warm tones that gently embrace the paintings of Salvador Dali. Floor-to-ceiling windows welcome the winter sun as it shines on elegant pieces from around the world.
The name itself pays direct homage to the myths of Italian culture. Specifically, store owner April Ware was drawn to the ethereal beauty of Dante’s muse, Beatrice. Such elegance is directly reflected in the specific brands and pieces Ware has chosen to showcase in her recently opened storefront.
With her extensive travels and appreciation for fine clothing, Ware has brought her unique overseas shopping experiences to the heart of Boulder.
Ware began working in the health and wellness industry, but the pandemic led to a change of heart, “coming out of COVID I was no longer aligned with my previous field of work,” Ware explained.
From here, Ware began her passion for design and the fashion industry. Although it was not an easy task, “since I had no connection with the fashion industry, I started reaching out to store owners who became famous. I got advice and mentorship from there and decided to go for it,” Ware said.
In addition, she reflected on her travels and returned to important cities, “I knew where to look because I have a lot of shopping experience. I went to Paris, New York, London and Milan and personally met with all the brands to cultivate relationships and share with them the progress of the store location and Boulder’s demographics,” stated Ware.
Her many experiences abroad led her to a firm understanding of the types of brands she wanted to find in Beatrice the Divine. More specifically, she wanted to emphasize the way her experiences shopping abroad expanded her personal style in ways she didn’t know existed before.
“My goal was to create a store that offers a sense of discovery and the ability to elevate your personal style,” she explained.
Her combination of worldly fashion and appreciation of timeless brands allows those who enter to experience the concept of fashion as an art form.
Today, customers can find unique pieces such as avant-garde and vintage cuts by New York artists, Batseva.
