WARSAW – He is a banker. He is also an entrepreneur and the son of an entrepreneur.
“Growing up,” Adam Fischer recalled, “I always thought I’d be some kind of business owner because I grew up in a family of business owners. My father’s side of the family owns Fischer Funeral Home and my mother has owned her hair salon since 1990. Our family never really had a 9 to 5 job and that’s all I’ve ever known.
“I’m a financial advisor for JP Morgan and a senior vice president at Coshocton Chase Bank,” he added. “I have been in financial services for 15 years and I love what I do every day. But during the pandemic, our bank is closed. I wanted to start an important business and that’s when I realized that container rental was an underserved market in the area.”
Today, Fischer owns Ohio Dumpster Rentals.
“I started Ohio Dumpster Rentals in June 2020,” he said, “after realizing that our area needed a local dumpster rental company. There are no local dumpster rental companies, so it was difficult to get a dumpster in our area. I knew I could rent containers locally and more competitively.”
Fischer, 38, grew up in Warsaw, graduated from River View High School in 2003 and then graduated from DeVry University in 2006 with a degree in business administration.
“I’m very happy that this business has grown so much,” he said. “In June 2020, I started with one truck, four containers and an idea. First I wanted to prove the concept. I feel I have achieved that. We have grown exponentially. We rent containers in seven counties, we have five employees, three trucks, 32 containers and a full schedule every working day.”
Heather Parker helps with “anything behind the scenes that might be needed.”
“I’ve been with Adam for a while,” said Parker, “and I’ve been very impressed with his work ethic and desire to grow his business. She has big aspirations and will always be that person who keeps going no matter what. I see him coming home from his day job in a suit and tie to change into work clothes and do whatever he needs to do for work. He is not only the face of the company, he is the brain of the operation, the director, the workforce and the fixer. He can literally do anything and he seems to enjoy it.”
“I enjoy the challenge of growing a business and watching it grow,” Fischer replied. “It’s very useful to see where the business is now compared to just the idea I had in spring 2020.”
