Florence Pugh stars on her second Vogue cover for the publication’s Winter 2023 issue, focusing on her high fashion sense and culinary prowess. The 26-year-old “Don’t Worry Darling” star was photographed by Colin Dodgson and styled by Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, who chose architecturally convincing gowns that speak to the actor’s confidence. One such design is the deep yellow Loewe number pulled from the Spring/Summer 2023 collection, which features waist-defining cutouts and a black bow tied at the navel. The pleated fabric of the skirt is gathered at the hips but extends into a sheer column like many of the “naked” looks Pugh has worn on the red carpet.
Referring to the hot pink tulle Valentino outfit that famously exposed her nipples and made headlines, Pugh said: “I’ve never been afraid of what’s underneath the fabric. If I’m happy in it, then I’ll wear it.” She continued: “Of course, I don’t want to offend people, but I think what I want to say is: How can my nipples offend you so much? It’s very important that we do this. I know some people might make fun of me for saying that, but if the dress they’re peeking through my breasts encourage people to say, ‘Well, if you were raped, you deserved it,’ it just shows me that there’s still a lot of work to do.”
Pugh has collaborated with the house of Valentino and its stylist, Rebecca Corbin-Murray, on many other see-through moments, including the legless, shimmering black dress she wore to the Venice Film Festival with revealing cleavage; the metallic sequin jumpsuit she chose for the London Fashion Awards 2022 after party; and the revealing micro-cropped polo and maxi skirt she changed into at last Paris Fashion Week after her runway show.
Pugh is quickly becoming a style icon as she takes on acclaimed roles, such as her highly anticipated role as Allison in “A Good Person,” a collaboration with ex-boyfriend Zach Braff that she discusses in the article.
