Hundreds turn out for ‘Model Call’ at Oak View Mall

Hundreds of models showed up at Omaha’s Oak View Mall Saturday afternoon in hopes of finally hearing their name called to participate in Omaha Fashion Week.The “Model Call” was held in the Oak View atrium and was open to models of all genders, sizes, races and ages. . Something the longtime Omaha Fashion Week attendee praises the event for. “I love the fact that there is so much diversity at these auditions,” said Erika Hansen, a model and member of the Fashion Guild. “People of all sizes, ages, races and shapes – it doesn’t matter.” The models were measured, had their heads painted and walked the runway in front of a crowd of fans, designers, agents and mall goers. “Having hundreds of people show up at once is really great exposure for everyone involved,” said Samantha Hartong of Omaha Fashion Week. Hansen says Omaha Fashion Week is the fourth largest fashion week in the country. Saturday’s event brought people from all over the state to prove that statement, some coming because their cities or states don’t have an event the size of Saturday. “It’s just something that I think is really amazing for Omaha and a lot of people don’t realize how big it is,” he said. is Hansen. The “Model Call” was held in the Oak View atrium and was open to models of all genders, sizes, races and ages. Something the longtime Omaha Fashion Week attendee praises the event for.

“I love the fact that there is so much diversity at these auditions,” said Erika Hansen, a model and member of the Fashion Guild. “People of all sizes, ages, races and shapes – it doesn’t matter.”

They took the measurements of the models, painted their heads and walked the runway in front of a crowd of fans, designers, agents and mall visitors.

“Having hundreds of people show up at once is really great exposure for everyone involved,” said Omaha Fashion Week’s Samantha Hartong.

Hansen says Omaha Fashion Week is the fourth largest fashion week in the country. Saturday’s event brought people from various states to prove that statement, some coming because their cities or states don’t have an event the size of Saturday.

“It’s just something that I think is really amazing for Omaha, and a lot of people don’t realize how huge it is,” Hansen said.
