Stacie Mason has accepted the role of Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Stormont Vail Health. Mason will begin his new duties on February 27. She is currently vice president of hospital finance at INTEGRIS Health, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the largest health system in Oklahoma. She provided financial oversight for 11 INTEGRIS Health hospitals ranging from rural to metropolitan locations. Prior to joining INTEGRIS in 2017, Mason served as chief financial officer at two other health care organizations in Oklahoma — Saint Francis Health System, Tulsa, and Southwestern Memorial Hospital, Weatherford, Okla. Mason holds a bachelor’s degree in health care administration and a master’s degree in business administration from Northeastern State University, Tahlequah, Okla., and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Oklahoma State University, Tulsa. Peg Burnette, Stormont Vail’s current senior vice president and chief financial officer, announced last fall that she will retire in 2023. Burnette returned to her Topeka roots in April 2021 when she joined Stormont Vail after retiring from the Denver Health and Hospital Authority after almost 25 years. years of service as a CFO, including 16 years as the organization’s CFO.

Envista Credit Union announced that Ashley Esquibel became its new chief administrative officer and Christina Schmitt its chief operating officer. With more than 18 years of experience at Envista, Esquibel most recently served as Vice President of Human Resources. Under Esquibel’s leadership, Envista has grown by more than 60 positions over the past five years, and 52 percent of employees have been promoted since their first day at the company. In addition to continued HR management, Esquibel will now oversee Envista’s member experience, marketing and communications strategies. Esquibel is an active board member of the Topeka Society for Human Resource Management, is part of the Leadership Greater Topeka Class of 2021 and was recently recognized as a 2022 Topeka “20 under 40” honoree. With more than 17 years of experience, Schmitt most recently served as Envista’s vice president of operations. She led Envista through multiple technology upgrades and implementations and guided Envista affiliates through the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure accessibility and safety for our members and staff. Going forward, Schmitt will be responsible for technology, software and operational efficiency. Schmitt is a board trustee of the Topeka Credit Union Foundation and was a 2020 YWCA Women of Excellence nominee.

The Office of the Commissioner of the State Bank awarded $160,286 in grants to eight Kansas organizations to provide financial literacy education statewide. Each year, funds are awarded to organizations that provide financial literacy to Kansas consumers. The grant award process is competitive, and recipients must provide measurable results. Funds for consumer education come from fines and settlements with companies within the regulatory jurisdiction of the OSBC’s Division of Consumer and Mortgage Lending; therefore, available grants may vary from year to year. This year, OSBC awarded a total of $160,286 to eight organizations. Recipients are Consumer Credit Counseling Service Inc. (Salina), Housing and Credit Counseling Inc. (Topeka)Kansas Council on Economic Education (Wichita), The Pando Initiative Inc. (Wichita), Jobs for American Graduates-Kansas (JAG-K) (Topeka)Mirror Inc. (Newton), USD 350 St. John Jr/Sr High (St. John) and Kansas Bankers Educational Foundation (Topeka).

Matt Koupalsenior vice president, chief legal and ethics officer, corporate secretary at FHLBank Topeka was selected to participate in the Kansas Bankers Association’s 2023 Bank Leaders of Kansas program. Now in its 17th year, the BLOK program is a statewide leadership development program designed to build participants’ leadership skills and knowledge of the banking industry. As one of 21 members of the BLOK 2023 class, Koupal will begin a series of four practices in February. Koupal joined FHLBank Topeka while attending law school at Washburn University in 2008 and has held various legal and compliance positions at FHLBank Topeka during his tenure. He was promoted to his current position in October 2021. Koupal holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Southern Methodist University and a law degree from Washburn University Law School. He also graduated from the Colorado College of Banking.
