The royal ladies always look so fashionable when out in public, and fans pay close attention to what they wear.
According to style experts, there’s one big fashion trend we’ve seen on the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton), as well as Meghan Markle and many other royals that we’ll continue to see sporting these years. Here’s what it is and why women must wear it to “stay relevant.”

A trend that the ladies are rocking
Pantsuits for working women have been popular for a few years now as Prince William’s wife has attended plenty of events rocking the look. But in 2022, another way to wear clothes got a boost when Meghan Markle wore a white suit that included an oversized blazer to the Invictus Games reception. The Duchess of Sussex paired her $3,800 all-white suit with her wedding shoes and earrings.
The Express noted that several European royals have also tried the trend, including Queen Maxima of the Netherlands who recently wore a baggy suit with a green belt, and Spain’s Queen Letizia has been photographed multiple times in the oversized suit trend. Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria and Monastic Princess Charlene were also seen in modern-business looks.

Kate, Meghan and other royals wear it to ‘stay relevant’, says expert
Celebrity stylist Miranda Holder said there’s a reason all the ladies are opting for this trend, which is to stay relevant and look business at the same time.
“This aesthetic suits the royal woman perfectly as the trendy silhouette makes them relevant and fashionable,” Holder told the Daily Mail.
She added: “The very nature of the suit, which is traditionally thought of as business wear, means that they are suitably dressed for the weight of whatever their schedule throws at them.”

Why the palace will no longer publish information about the Princess of Wales’s clothes
The Princess of Wales is one of the world’s biggest fashion icons, but palace officials recently decided that there should no longer be so much focus on what she wears.
The Express reported that “Kensington Palace officials began refusing to give details about Kate’s outfit out of frustration that so much media coverage was focused on what she was wearing.
“Until recently, they always provided details of the Princess of Wales’s outfit for every official engagement, except for those such as visits to farms or gardens where she wore very casual clothes. But now they routinely refuse to say so unless it’s an extremely glamorous occasion like a movie premiere or a state event or a foreign visit where she’s conducting fashion diplomacy by wearing items designed in the host country.”
